The Effects of Overusing Technology Technology is a powerful tool in todayââ¬â¢s society. Most people own some sort of technology and use it on a daily basis, whether it be a cell phone, computer, GPS, or a tablet. Technology helps us in many different ways by being able to complete tasks easier, and be connected to people we cannot see daily. Text messages, emails, apps like Snapchat, Skype, or FaceTime helps us stay connected to people far or near. Wireless internet has allowed internet access to any phone, or computer in reach. Technology has helped us complete necessary online applications like college admission documents, scholarship forms, and even job applications that are hard to complete without a computer. All these abilities are nice to be able to do at a fast pace, but we have to use them with caution. Young adults have been the most affected in our technological world. Most teens own a phone by the time they are in middle school if not before, and a laptop by the time they are in high school. ââ¬Å"78% of teens now have a cell phone, and almost half (47%) of those own smartphones. That translates into 37% of all teens who have smartphonesâ⬠(Madden). ââ¬Å"Nine in ten (93%) teens have a computer or have access to one at home.
